JONESBORO – Chancellor Kelly Damphousse Thursday emailed students scheduled to graduate at Fall Commencement, advising the university is moving the ceremony from Saturday to Sunday, Dec. 20, because of anticipated rain Saturday. The location remains Centennial Bank Stadium.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event will employ COVID-19 safety measures that were followed during the spring and summer graduations that were both held in August. The spring commencement had been postponed from May.
All graduates are required to wear face coverings during the entire ceremony, only removing them for their professional photo after exiting the stage.
Graduating students could request up to eight tickets for family. Additional guest tickets may be passed out on Saturday morning on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 11 a.m. at the stadium ticket window. (Note: That may now be extended to Sunday)
Graduates will be seated six feet apart on the football field, with the commencement stage located in the south end zone beneath the Centennial Bank Stadium video board. Guests will be seated in the stands. Everyone will be required to wear a face covering when entering and exiting Centennial Bank Stadium.
Brandon Bradke of Heber Springs is the featured student speaker. Bradke is graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering. He has been named to the Chancellor’s List each semester he has been at A-State.
Chancellor Kelly Damphousse will confer degrees upon graduates from seven colleges including Agriculture, Neil Griffin College of Business, Education and Behavioral Science, Engineering and Computer Science, Liberal Arts and Communication, Nursing and Health Professions, and Sciences and Mathematics, along with University College. Graduates will receive doctoral, specialist, master, bachelor and associate degrees.
