Paragould Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for Rape

PARAGOULD, AR – Second Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney Scott Ellington announces today that a Paragould jury has convicted Jerry Wayne McKee, 63, of Rape, a class Y felony.

In 2018, McKee was arrested for the rape of a minor child, eleven years old at the time. The jury, composed of seven men and five women, recommended a life sentence in the Arkansas Department of Corrections. Judge Barbara Halsey followed their recommendation and imposed the full sentence.

Deputy Prosecuting Attorneys Adam Butler and Thomas Young prosecuted the case for the State of Arkansas. Deputy Prosecutor Young said, “Our victim was very brave and showed great strength in her willingness to testify. Adam and I are amazed by her courage.”
