JONESBORO, Ark. – A heat wave across NEA could be a serious health hazard for those without access to a place to cool off but Jonesboro is looking to hit that problem head on.
Those needing ways to escape the heat wave that has engulfed Jonesboro this week can enjoy a free respite in the afternoons and evenings at any of the City of Jonesboro recreation centers.
Allen Park Recreation Center (3609 Race St.), Earl Bell Center (1212 S. Church St.) and Parker Park Recreation Center (1506 N. Church St.) are open noon-9 p.m. weekdays and noon-5 p.m. Saturdays.
City E-911 Director Jeff Presley reminds residents to check on neighbors, especially the elderly, to ensure their safety, and bring all pets inside during the day.
