Family Dollar suspect will be charged as an adult

JONESBORO, Ark. – The juvenile suspect in Sunday’s aggravated robbery of Family Dollar on Gee Street is being charged as an adult, police announced Tuesday.

Kentorius Davenport, 17, of Jonesboro, was before the Craighead County District Court Monday and received a $100,000 bond. His next court date is April 19.

Davenport is being held on a Felony Aggravated Robbery charge connected to the incident. Officers responded to Family Dollar after the suspect approached the cashier from behind with a handgun, the release said. He ordered the cashier to open the register drawers and the safe. While the cashier attempted to open the safe, the suspect fired the handgun, striking the wall near the cashier’s head.

During the incident, two customers entered the business. The suspect then ordered them to a section of the store where he proceeded to rob them at gunpoint.

Police said the suspect escaped on foot running southbound from the business with stolen money.

After a civilian tip, officers located Davenport in a a carport on Jefferson Ave. Money, clothing, and a handgun were recovered from the scene.

When arrested, he had four felony warrants from other agencies.
