Wanted Walnut Ridge man found passed out in Lake City

LAKE CITY, Ark. – A Craighead County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a call of a drunken subject this morning and ended up giving Lawrence County a hand in the process.

At 4:41 a.m., Deputy Aaron Chadwick was dispatched to County Road 997 in reference to a, “drunken subject,” the incident report says. He found a black Nissan Sentra with a white male slumped over in the front passenger seat, the report said. It was Eric D. Elliott, 34, of Walnut Ridge.

Chadwick ran the man through dispatch and learned he had a contempt of court: non-payment of fines warrant out of Craighead County. However, he showed to have several warrants out of Lawrence County. Dispatched advised Lawrence County officers would extradite Elliott. So, the Craighead deputy decided to make the trade.

He took Elliott to the Kum and Go on Highway 63 North in Bono. That’s where he was transferred to the custody of Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department.

Elliott was cited for his non-payment of fines warrant in Craighead County for a court date of 1 p.m. on February 13. His Nissan was towed. Elliott is being held in Lawrence County Jail.
