Man held on murder charge after dead body found near Stuttgart

Deceased victim was shot in the head, left in a ditch

PINE BLUFF, Ark. – Kirkland Warren, 22, of Pine Bluff has been arrested and is being held at the Jefferson County Detention Center on 1st degree murder charges in connection with a homicide investigation being lead by Special Agents of the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division.

The Arkansas County Sherriff’s Department contacted state police yesterday afternoon (December 11th) requesting assistance with a death investigation. A deceased male, identity unknown, was found in a roadside ditch off Highway 79 and Gingrich Road, near Stuttgart with an apparent gunshot wound to the head.

The body has been sent to the Arkansas State Medical Examiner’s Office for positive identification of the individual, and to determine manner and cause of death.

The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division will prepare an investigative file and submit the findings to the Jefferson County prosecuting attorney for review.
