JONESBORO, Ark. – As Jonesboro officers will soon begin wearing body cameras, the department is asking for help from the public in setting policy on body worn cameras.
A public hearing will take place on Thursday, September 21st, at 5:30 p.m., in the Jonesboro City Council Chambers at 300 S. Church St. Chief Rick Elliott as well as other members of the department will be present. A draft of the proposed policy is available for review at http://www.jonesboropolice.com or at the link here: 510.00- Body Worn Cameras (DRAFT)
JPD entered into an agreement with TASER earlier this year to use their Axon Body 2 cameras on a trial basis for one year, at no cost to the city. After that time period, the department will determine if continued use is desired.
