JONESBORO, Ark. – A local eclipse viewing party will not happen because the safety lenses purchased were found to be the wrong kind.
The event planned by the Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library to watch the solar eclipse on Monday has been cancelled, an update on the library’s website said. The reason behind the cancellation, the post said, was when the library was notified by online retailer Amazon that the solar eclipse viewing glasses purchased have not been confirmed to be from a recommended manufacturer that is approved for safety.
The library gave away multiple pairs of solar eclipse glasses leading up to the event before they received this notification, the post said If you picked up a pair of these glasses from the library, you are advised to not use them to view the eclipse on Monday.
