JONESBORO, Ark. – While it remains a mystery why someone dumped a number of old tombstones on a woman’s property in Craighead County, the reasons can’t be good.
At 7:40 p.m. Thursday, August 18, Deputy Mike Lawrence with Craighead County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to County Road 787 to speak with a woman. There, she showed the officer where her concern was. In a pile, several tombstones along with miscellaneous pieces of concrete were laying together, as though someone dumped it.
The tombstones were all very old, broken and were not legible. The deputy could not determine where they came from at the time of the report. Photos were taken.
If you know where the gravestones may have been taken from or have any information about who may have dumped the material on the woman’s property, call Crime Stoppers at (870) 935-7867 (935-STOP.)
