JONESBORO – Fowler Center at Arkansas State University will present the Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre’s adaptation of “The Taming of the Shrew,” Sunday, July 9, at 2 p.m.
This one-hour production of Shakespeare’s classic text, adapted and directed by Chad Bradford, is specifically designed to appeal to children and adults alike. It is presented as part of Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre’s Family Shakespeare touring program.
“Grab a seat close to the stage as the Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre transports you back to the lively and colorful days of old world Italy, where embracing adventure, music and above all, passion, was a way of life,” said a Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre spokesman. “Through a flurry of song and spectacle, the rambunctious and arrogant Petruchio embarks on his quest to woo the unimpressed and headstrong ‘Kate the Cursed.’ Inspired by Italian traditions of puppetry and commedia dell’arte, the Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre players bring the audience right into the middle of the action. So come ready to play — we can’t tell the story without you.”
