Feb. 26: Music Teachers of the Delta Sunday Sampler Concert

JONESBORO – The Department of Music at Arkansas State University will host the Music Teachers of the Delta Sunday Sampler concert on Sunday, Feb. 26, at 3 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Recital Hall.  It is free and open to the public.

The program will feature students of members of the Music Teachers Association of the Delta, the local affiliate of MTNA.  Performers will include pianists, singers, and other instrumentalists. This concert gives the students an opportunity to perform for a live audience in a supportive and non-competitive atmosphere, and to enjoy making and sharing music together.

Many of the students will be testing out pieces that they will also perform for the National Federation of Music Clubs Festival on March 4 and the Arkansas State Music Teachers Association Region 2 Festival on April 8.

Dr. Lauren Schack Clark, director of keyboard studies at Arkansas State University, states, “Every performance helps the students gain confidence on their pieces, and allows them to gain experience that cannot be duplicated just by playing in the practice room or the living room.”

For more information about this concert or any other A-State music event, one may contact the Music Department at (870) 972-2094.
