JONESBORO, Ark. – When a 3-year-old girl went to hug her grandmother’s dog last Friday, it snapped.

The dog bit the girl in her face, lacerating her on top of the head, and leaving wounds to her right forehead and cheek. She was taken to NEA Baptist emergency room.

Jonesboro Police Officer Jeff Moore took the report at the hospital, speaking with the mother and grandmother. The animal’s rabies vaccination was verified with Jonesboro Family Pet Hospital. However, the grandmother asked about having the dog euthanized and tested for rabies, according to the report.

The dog was euthanized the following day, September 17.

No citations were issued, the report stated.
