Man killed by vehicle in Jonesboro

JONESBORO, Ark. – A man was killed in traffic Sunday evening in Jonesboro after being asked to leave a nearby store.

At approximately 7:53 pm, Jonesboro Police Department responded to a call for a welfare check of a man at Dollar General, 101 East Johnson Avenue in Jonesboro. When they arrived, a news release states the officers found the male and, at the request of Dollar General personnel, he was asked to leave the premises.

He left on foot and, shortly after, was struck by a vehicle on Johnson Avenue.

The man was transported to St. Bernard’s Medical Center where he died as a result of the collision.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured but was taken to a local hospital to have blood drawn as is required by state law.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of family.
