JONESBORO, Ark. – Crooks are breaking into homes across Craighead County, in search for goods and possibly, for prison time, if they’re caught.
Craighead County Sheriff’s Department dispatched a deputy to Craighead County Road 367 about a break-in. Arriving at about 10 a.m., the law enforcement officer spoke with the victim, who said she left Friday evening and arrived home yesterday morning to find the dastardly deed done to her domain.
A bedroom window was broken, with the air conditioner unit knocked out so an apparent suspect could gain entry. A 42-inch RCA flat screen television was taken, along with 10 one-dollar coins.
This was not the only burglary authorities discovered on the same exact road.
Just before 11 a.m. Monday morning, deputies visited with another victim who had been out of town recently as well. When his son came by, he noticed the shed door was open and found a lock cut along with the front door to the home left open.
A John Deere lawn mower 160 series, a Skill chainsaw, a Honda generator, a Stihl weed eater, a portable welder, a cordless drill, and a Central Pneumatic air compressor, 8 gallon, were taken from the shed. A green 2012 Honda 400 ATV was missing, too, along with a female’s Timex watch, two DVD players, and two flat screen televisions (22-inch and 40-inch respectively).
Authorities are investigating both incidents. Jonesboro police are investigating several burglaries from over the weekend, as well.
