$35,000 ring reported stolen in Jonesboro

JONESBORO, Ark. – While an out of town visitor stayed in Jonesboro over the weekend, he lost something very small with a very big price tag.

A Tiffany platinum band with a 5.4 carat princess cut solitaire diamond, valued at over $35,000.00, according to the report, came up missing while a couple stayed in the Hilton Garden Inn on Aug. 19 and 20, a Friday and Saturday.

The complainant told Jonesboro police while coming back to the room Saturday night, his wife pulled off the ring and laid it on the bathroom vanity. However, when the couple checked out, hours later, the lady realized the ring was not with her.

When they called the hotel back, both the housekeeping supervisor and the desk clerk were not able to find the valuable.

Jonesboro Police Department Detective Jeremy Parnell has been investigating the incident. The only possible suspect was the housekeeping staff member who cleaned the room – and who reportedly had gone home by the time the visitor realized the valuable was missing.
