JONESBORO, Ark. – Jonesboro Police Department employs some of the most polite officers in Northeast Arkansas but through September 5th, they’re giving you two choices:
“Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.”
The campaign to stamp out drinking and driving is running from now through September 5th. JPD will conduct sobriety checkpoints Friday, August 26th, in Jonesboro.
Black River Technical College Law Enforcement Training Academy personnel will assist by providing their BAT (Breath Alcohol Testing) Mobile to assist officers at checkpoints.
According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA), an average of 10,000 people are killed each year in the United States as a result of impaired driving. JPD participates in NHTSA’s Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign to bring awareness about the issue of impaired driving in our community and to deter such behavior to make the streets of Jonesboro safer.
More information about the campaign can be found at http://www.nhtsa.gov/drivesober/.
