MONTICELLO, Ark. — An Arkansas State Police corporal was arrested Thursday after authorities said he crashed an agency vehicle while on duty and showed signs of impairment.
Cpl. John M. Parker, 45, of Camden was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated/drugs and careless and prohibited driving, according to an ASP news release.
The single-vehicle crash occurred at about 7:30 p.m. Aug. 21 on U.S. Highway 278 near Monticello. Parker was not injured.
ASP said standardized field sobriety tests indicated Parker was impaired. He was transported to the Drew County Detention Center.
Parker has been placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation by the ASP Office of Professional Standards. He has worked for the agency since 2014.
No additional details were released.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
