One Killed, Two Injured in Cotton Plant Shooting

COTTON PLANT, Ark. — One person was killed and two others were injured in a shooting Saturday in Cotton Plant, according to Arkansas State Police.

The Woodruff County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the ASP Criminal Investigation Division to investigate the homicide and battery.

Deputies responded Aug. 1 to a residence in the 300 block of Susie Avenue and found two gunshot victims: Omari Chapple, 20, and Talisha Chapple, 40, both of Woodruff County.

Omari Chapple was taken by ambulance to Unity Health-White County Medical Center in Searcy, where he died from his injuries.

Talisha Chapple was airlifted to Regional One Health in Memphis. She was listed in stable condition Monday.

Deputies later learned that a third person, Annisia Atkins, 22, of Cotton Plant, had also been shot. Atkins was taken by private vehicle to Forrest City Medical Center before being airlifted to Regional One Health, where she remained in critical condition.

No information about a possible suspect or arrests was released. The investigation remains ongoing.
