PARAGOULD, Ark. — A shoplifting report at a Paragould business led to a felony theft arrest after police said the suspect had a prior shoplifting conviction.
Vanessa Jackson, 34, was arrested on suspicion of theft of property, a Class D felony.
According to a probable cause affidavit from the Paragould Police Department, officers were dispatched June 27 to a business in the 2800 block of West Kingshighway for a shoplifting report.
Officers made contact with Jackson in the office. Employees told police Jackson did not pay for two items that were in her possession when they approached her at the register, according to the affidavit.
Police said Jackson had previously been convicted of shoplifting in July 2020.
Bond was set at $1,500 cash or surety.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
