When officers arrived, they found a male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported by ambulance to a hospital, where he later died.

According to the incident report released Thursday morning, Zadarius Olando Merritt, 21, of Jonesboro, was identified as the victim.

The report states that a suspect shot the victim in the side. The report states that a male suspect, 19, and a female suspect, also 19, were involved.

Police said Wednesday that a person of interest had been detained in another county. As of Thursday morning, the name was not yet available for release, Smith said. However, Smith did confirm to our reporter that the subjects taken into custody were in Crittenden County.

NEA Report checked the Crittenden County Jail inmate roster, and since last night, only two inmates have been arrested on non-misdemeanor charges – a 19-year-old male and a 19-year-old female, and both are listed as hold for another agency.

However, police have not confirmed they are associated with the case.

The investigation remains ongoing, and no additional information has been released at this time.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
