WYNNE, Ark. — Arkansas State Police (ASP) and U.S. Marshals arrested Edward Lampkin Jr., 36, who is wanted in the Tuesday homicide of another Wynne man.
The arrest was announced by Wynne City Hall on Facebook.

Edward Lampkin Jr., 36, has been taken into custody and charged with First-Degree Murder in connection to the Tuesday homicide of a Wynne man.
Lampkin was arrested at about 8:45 p.m. in the Forrest Park Cemetery in Forrest City by Arkansas State Police (ASP) Special Agents, U.S. Marshals Task Force members, and the 1st Judicial Task Force. Lampkin will be transported to the Cross County Detention Center.
The ASP Criminal Investigation Division (CID) initiated a homicide investigation at the request of the Wynne Police Department (WPD) following a fatal shooting that occurred Tuesday, April 14, 2026.
“As an assisting agency, Arkansas State Police depends on strong relationships with our local law enforcement partners,” said ASP Col. Mike Hagar.
“We would not have seen the successful apprehension of this suspect without the Wynne and Forrest City police departments.”
At approximately 11:50 a.m. on Tuesday, WPD received multiple 911 calls reporting a shooting at the intersection of C Street and Fitzhugh Circle. Upon arrival, officers located a man later identified as Javon Beal, 34, of Wynne, suffering from gunshot wounds. Beal was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Beal’s body was transported to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory, where the manner and cause of death will be determined.
