JONESBORO, Ark. — A Trumann pair was arrested after police alleged they switched shoe boxes inside Academy Sports and left the store without paying for a new pair of Nike shoes.
Christopher Robert Miller, 51, of Trumann, was arrested for shoplifting, second offense, a Class D felony. Faith Amanda Miller, 42, of Trumann, was also arrested for shoplifting, second offense, a Class D felony.
Bail for each was set at $75,000. The next court date for both is May 18.
According to a probable cause affidavit, an officer responded Feb. 17, 2026, to Academy Sports in Jonesboro for a shoplifting complaint. Officers were told another shoplifting incident had occurred, but the suspects had already left the scene.
A Trumann officer later identified the suspects as Christopher Miller and Faith Miller, according to the affidavit.
Police said a video review showed Christopher entering the store with Faith. The affidavit states Christopher was seen wearing dark-colored shoes while the pair browsed in the men’s footwear section.
According to the affidavit, Christopher selected a pair of Nike shoes and sat down to try them on while Faith looked through the lids and packing. Police said Christopher then placed his old dark-colored shoes in the new shoe box.
The affidavit states that Christopher then stood up and walked away. Faith allegedly pushed the old shoes into the box and closed the lid with her foot. Police said Christopher then picked up the old box, and both suspects walked down an aisle out of camera view.
Investigators said the pair was later seen leaving the store together while Christopher wore the new light-colored shoes without paying. Both suspects then got into a dark-colored Jeep with substantial paint oxidation and left, according to the affidavit.
Employees later recovered the old shoes inside the new box. The shoes were valued at $134.99, according to the affidavit.
Jail records show the two were arrested by the sheriff’s office on Tuesday night, March 24, 2026.
Police said Christopher has a prior theft conviction out of Greene County on Oct. 21, 2024, and Faith also has a prior theft conviction out of Greene County on Oct. 24, 2024.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
