Two Suspects Arrested After Home Depot Theft Investigation

JONESBORO, Ark. — Two suspects have been arrested following an investigation into a retail theft reported at The Home Depot in Jonesboro.

According to a probable cause affidavit from the Jonesboro Police Department, a loss prevention officer contacted police on March 3, 2026, regarding a theft that occurred on March 1.

The officer reported that Joseph Wayne Nix, 31, and Daniel Oliver Irwin, 45, both of Trumann, worked together to steal tools valued at $2,788.94.

Investigators said surveillance footage showed the suspects pushing shopping carts filled with merchandise past all points of sale without paying.

The loss prevention officer provided photos of the suspects and their vehicle, which were shared with surrounding law enforcement agencies. Authorities said a neighboring agency later identified the suspects by comparing store surveillance images with official driver’s license records, confirming the individuals matched Nix and Irwin.

Both suspects were arrested on charges of theft of property greater than $1,000 but less than $5,000 and organized retail theft between $1,001 and $5,000, both Class D felonies.

Judge Tommy Fowler set Nix’s bond at $15,000 cash only, noting he is a parolee with a history of theft and failures to appear. Irwin’s bond was also set at $15,000 cash.

Both suspects are scheduled to appear in court April 23.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
