Man Arrested After Vehicle Break-Ins on Stadium Boulevard; Judge Sets $50,000 Bond

JONESBORO — A Jonesboro man was arrested late Friday night after police responded to a reported breaking and entering involving multiple vehicles on Stadium Boulevard, according to a Jonesboro Police Department probable cause affidavit.

Officers were dispatched around 11 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 26, to a parking lot on Stadium Boulevard after receiving a report that vehicle break-ins were in progress. Upon arrival, officers conducted a sweep of the lot and found several vehicles with doors standing open and glove compartments that appeared to have been rummaged through.

During the sweep, an officer observed a male later identified as Timothy David Collums, 36, rummaging through the bed of a pickup truck, according to the affidavit. The officer ordered Collums to show his hands. As he complied, police said Collums dropped a cellphone cord and a vehicle Bluetooth adapter onto the ground.

A subsequent search of Collums’ person led officers to recover a white parking permit. Further investigation determined the permit had been removed from one of the previously entered vehicles in the lot, police said.

The report notes Collums was sweating profusely despite an outdoor temperature of approximately 63 degrees. Officers also stated Collums made several unsolicited statements claiming he could hear people screaming from inside vehicles, though no other individuals were present at the scene.

Based on Collums’ behavior, auditory hallucinations described in the report, and what officers described as erratic conduct, police determined he was under the influence of a narcotic, according to the report.

Collums was arrested and charged with breaking or entering, a Class D felony, as well as misdemeanor theft and public intoxication.

Bond was set at $50,000 cash or surety. During the bond hearing, the judge noted Collums was already out on bond from a Dec. 17 arrest. Court records also indicate Collums acted erratically during a Zoom court appearance and was removed by a jailer. He was mentioned in court as a possible candidate for mental health court.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
