JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro suspect was arrested after an infant tested positive for multiple controlled substances, prompting a months-long investigation by local police and child welfare officials, according to a probable cause affidavit.
On Nov. 21, 2025, a report was filed with the Jonesboro Police Department regarding a 3-month-old child who tested positive for methamphetamine and cocaine. The mother of the child is Michelle Moore, 37, of Jonesboro.
According to the affidavit, the alleged victim first came to the attention of authorities after the Department of Human Services received a hotline report from Greene County. On Oct. 31, 2025, social workers made contact with Moore at her residence on Nettleton Avenue, where they observed white crystal-like particles “consistent with methamphetamine” on a living room table, a car seat, and baby items, including a baby tub, pillow, and blankets.
Moore told workers she did not have a bed for the child and stated she had not found a primary care physician for the infant. Due to concerns for the victim’s safety, DHS requested a drug screen.
Moore completed the drug screen, which tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine. A 72-hour hold was placed on the victim, and Moore refused to hand the child over to law enforcement or DHS. Moore was arrested for an outstanding failure-to-appear warrant related to drug paraphernalia.
During a search incident to arrest, officers located a meth pipe hidden inside Moore’s bra, according to the affidavit.
A reassessment was completed on Nov. 3, 2025, due to continued concerns related to Moore’s alleged drug use, homelessness, and incarceration. The victim was taken to a children’s clinic on Nov. 4, 5, and 19. A hair follicle sample was collected and sent for testing.
The results came back positive for high levels of amphetamine, methamphetamine, benzoylecgonine, and cocaine, police said.
A bench warrant was issued for Moore on Dec. 11, 2025. Police were notified on Dec. 19, 2025, that Moore had been arrested and was being held at the Craighead County Detention Center.
Michelle Moore, 37, was arrested on charges of introducing a controlled substance into another person’s body, a Class B felony, and first-degree endangering the welfare of a minor, a Class D felony.
Bond was set by District Judge Tommy Fowler at $75,000 cash or surety. A no-contact order was issued. Moore is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 23.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
