VIDEO: Driver Arrested After November High-Speed Pursuit, Crash and Assault on Trooper, Says ASP

WHITE COUNTY, Ark. — A White County defendant is facing multiple charges after Arkansas State Police said he led a trooper on a high-speed pursuit on Interstate 57, crashed, and then allegedly injured the responding officer during the arrest.

According to the affidavit, the incident began on Nov. 22, 2025, at approximately 10:08 p.m., when a trooper was completing a traffic stop near mile-marker 31 on I-57. The trooper reported that a northbound black passenger car failed to move over or slow down while passing his patrol unit, despite the emergency lights being active and the left lane being open.

The trooper ended the initial stop and attempted to intercept the vehicle, notifying ASP Troop B communications. He caught up to the vehicle near mile-marker 33 and identified it as a black Lexus with Arkansas registration AYW18W. Earlier in the shift, ASP had received a call for service reporting the same vehicle being driven recklessly and nearly striking other motorists.

The affidavit states the Lexus failed to pull over as the trooper activated his emergency lights and siren. While fleeing, the driver allegedly swerved across lanes, traveled onto the shoulder, and accelerated to about 100 mph while passing another northbound vehicle. The vehicle then veered into the grassy area off the shoulder, lost control, and rotated across both lanes before crashing into an embankment. It came to rest in the northbound ditch facing south.

As the vehicle stopped, the trooper exited his unit and ordered the driver to show his hands. According to the report, the driver was noncompliant for several minutes and was observed drinking from a large can later confirmed to be an alcoholic beverage. After partially climbing out of the window and then back inside, the driver eventually exited from the door at 10:13 p.m. but allegedly refused commands to get on the ground.

The trooper reported attempting to detain the driver, identified as Jacob Grayson Hare. Hare allegedly resisted and, during the struggle, forcefully threw his head backward, striking the trooper in the nose. The officer performed a hip toss to bring Hare to the ground and was then able to secure him in handcuffs. The trooper noted heavy bleeding from his nose and impaired breathing following the assault.

Beebe police officers arrived to assist, and Hare was placed into a patrol vehicle. Officers reported a strong odor of intoxicants, bloodshot watery eyes, and slurred speech.

Hare refused a breath test, prompting the trooper to obtain a search warrant from Judge Eric Kennedy for a blood draw. Medical staff at Unity Health in Searcy performed the draw.

Hare, 24, of McRae, is charged with DWI second offense, refusal to submit to a chemical test, reckless driving, battery second degree, fleeing by vehicle, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental operations, possession of an open container of alcohol, drinking on the highway, passing an authorized vehicle, no seat belt, improper lane change, and no liability insurance.

Bail was set at $100,000. As of Dec. 11, he remains in the White County Detention Center. His next appearance in White County Circuit Court is scheduled for Jan. 6, 2026.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
