Suspect Accused of Locking Woman in Room, Leaving Her with Severe Injuries in Jonesboro

JONESBORO, Ark. — A suspect is facing felony charges after police say he locked a woman in a room and caused injuries that left her with multiple broken bones in Jonesboro.

Wesley Lorel Pryor, 40, of Wynne, is charged with second-degree domestic battering with injury and first-degree false imprisonment, both Class C felonies. He also faces a misdemeanor resisting arrest charge.

Pryor first appeared Monday before District Judge Tommy Fowler, where he had an outburst during video court and was removed for a mental-health screening. He returned Wednesday. Fowler had already set his bond at $50,000 cash or surety with a no-contact order and a GPS ankle monitor. Records show Pryor has six prior failures to appear.

According to a probable cause affidavit, officers were dispatched Nov. 22 to the 2500 block of South Caraway Road for an assault in progress. When they arrived, a complainant told officers she had driven the victim to the hospital after Pryor locked the victim in a room and refused to let her leave.

The victim suffered a broken shoulder, a broken arm, three broken toes on her left foot and a gash on her head, the affidavit states.

Officers found Pryor in another room “acting very irrationally by yelling and screaming.” A woman inside that room told officers she had been trying to get Pryor to leave, but he would not. When officers attempted to arrest him, Pryor tensed up and resisted before being taken into custody. Officers noted he appeared to be under the influence of a narcotic.

Pryor was transported to the Craighead County Detention Center.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  1. Again here we are this man is battling demons that nobody in his world can see I’m not going to put his information out here on social media because it’s not my place but the news platform needs to do a story on people who are fighting mental illness and they get lost in the cracks of the legal system you guys aren’t helping anybody at all why don’t you use this platform to actually shine light on mental illness instead of crucifying these people who would not normally do the things that they’re doing if they were getting help that they needed the beginning why don’t you make it where the crime doesn’t even have to happen because the source of anger in the human is handled before it even gets to that point would you guys just leave them out here to fend for themselves

What do you think?
