CRITTENDEN COUNTY, Ark. — Dashcam video shows the moment an Arkansas State Police trooper used a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) to end a high-speed pursuit that began in Tennessee and crossed into Arkansas on the night of Oct. 15, 2025.
According to the incident report, dispatchers notified the trooper around 9:15 p.m. of an active pursuit involving the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP). The fleeing vehicle — a blue Mercedes 300S sedan — was heading westbound toward the Arkansas state line on Interstate 40.
The trooper positioned himself near the 281-mile marker to assist. When the Mercedes came into view near the 282-mile marker, radar confirmed the car was traveling 90 mph in a 65-mph zone. The trooper activated emergency lights and sirens and joined the pursuit.
After crossing into Arkansas, the suspect exited at Mound City Road (Exit 281) and attempted to re-enter I-40 eastbound. The report states the suspect’s “excessive speed, erratic driving behavior, and failure to maintain lanes” posed an immediate danger to other motorists.
At approximately 9:23 p.m., the trooper conducted a TVI maneuver on the eastbound entrance ramp at roughly 86 mph, bringing the pursuit to an end without further incident.
The driver, Patrick Jefferson, was taken into custody without resistance. Tennessee Highway Patrol units assisted with the arrest.
Court records show he entered guilty pleas to misdemeanor fleeing and reckless driving charges in Arkansas.
