JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro man is facing a felony battery charge after police say he struck another man in the head with a metal chain during an altercation that included the use of a racial slur.
According to a Jonesboro Police Department’s probable cause affidavit, officers were called to a fight around 5:35 p.m. on Oct. 17 near the 100 block of West Forrest Street. Officers found both individuals separately in the area.
The victim told police he was riding his bicycle to a friend’s house when Tanner Chase Thomas Bobbitt, 22, allegedly called him a racial slur and threatened him. The victim said he confronted Bobbitt about the remark, at which point Bobbitt pulled a chain from his pocket and struck him in the head.
Officers noted a cut on the victim’s head, which was actively bleeding.
Police said Bobbitt admitted to using the racial slur and hitting the man with the chain but claimed he had been provoked. A search of Bobbitt’s jacket turned up a 1½-foot metal log chain, according to the report.
Bobbitt was taken into custody without incident and is charged with second-degree battery, a Class D felony. He claimed self-defense in court on Monday during his bond hearing. His bail was set at $20,000 cash or surety.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

1 and 1/2 foot log chain in a jacket pocket? And the “victim” alleged. OK, got it. 🤣
I think its an embarrassment to Arkansas for racism to still be active. 1950’s and 60’s this came to national attention and yet it still persists? Embarrassing and pathetically stupid. Here’s your sign.
