JONESBORO, Ark. — A Louisiana man is facing serious charges in Arkansas after a police report alleged that he choked a woman holding a one-month-old baby back in April in Jonesboro.
On June 6, 2025, the alleged victim called the Jonesboro Police Department to make the report, according to the probable cause affidavit. The alleged incident happened on April 29. The victim was delayed in completing the report due to the suspect’s control of her movements, according to the affidavit. She waited until she could flee to a safe location in Louisiana to complete the report.
The victim said that during an argument with her child’s father, Tyler Bordelon, he grabbed her by the throat while holding their one-month-old infant. She said he strangled tightly enough that she could not breathe, and she began to feel her body go weak as she started seeing spots. The victim said she almost dropped the baby due to his attack.
The woman said she had to strike him with a bottle to get him to release his hold. He then allegedly attempted to strangle the victim again, but she was able to bite him to stop the second choke, before fleeing upstairs. At that point, the report says the suspect stopped her from being able to leave the residence.
A warrant was issued for the arrest of Tyler Bordelon, 22. He was arrested in Louisiana and extradited back to Arkansas.
Bordelon faces charges including first-degree kidnapping/false imprisonment, a Class C felony, aggravated assault on a family or household member, a Class D felony, and first-degree child endangerment, a Class D felony.
He appeared in court for a bail hearing on Monday, July 21. The suspect appeared with his attorney and family present in the courtroom. Bond was set at $100,000 cash or surety with a no-contact order and a GPS ankle monitor requirement.
Bordelon’s next court date is set for Sept. 30.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
