Oak Grove Man Arrested After Traffic Stop Leads to Firearms, Drug Charges

PARAGOULD, Ark. — A traffic stop in Paragould led to the arrest of an Oak Grove man accused of illegally possessing firearms and a controlled substance, according to a probable cause affidavit.

On July 15, Paragould police stopped a gray Nissan Altima in the 1300 block of West Morgan Street. Officers identified the driver as Bryan Duke, 55, and learned he was on probation with a search waiver on file. He also had an active warrant for nonpayment.

As Duke stepped out of the vehicle, officers reported seeing a small object fall to the ground. Upon inspection, it was identified as a pre-rolled marijuana cigarette.

During a search of the vehicle, officers found a 12-gauge shotgun and two .22 caliber rifles. Investigators later determined Duke was convicted of a felony in 2021, making it illegal for him to possess firearms.

Duke was arrested and faces three counts of possession of firearms by certain persons, a Class D felony, and one count of possession of a controlled substance, a Class A misdemeanor.

He is being held at the Greene County Detention Center.

Court dates and bond information were not immediately available.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
