Paragould Man Arrested for Allegedly Striking Elderly Mother, Faces Felony Battery Charges

PARAGOULD, Ark. — A suspect was arrested in Paragould after a report alleged that he struck an elderly female in the face.

The probable cause affidavit states that on May 30, 2025, police responded to the 600 block of N. 2nd Street for reports of a disturbance. The caller reported that a male was standing over an elderly female who was screaming to call the police.

The alleged victim reported that her son, Tyler Hart, had struck her in the face. Police noted the victim had a swollen knot on the side of her face.

The affidavit described the victim as “well over the age of 60.”

Additionally, Hart was convicted of third-degree domestic battery in February 2025.

Tyler Dean Hart, 29, is now being charged with second-degree domestic battery, a Class B felony.

5-26-304. Domestic battering in the second degree.
(Class B Felony)
(a) A person commits domestic battering in the second degree if:
(4) The person knowingly causes physical injury to a family or household member he or she knows to be sixty (60) years of age or older or twelve (12) years of age or younger.
(b) (2) However, domestic battering in the second degree is a Class B felony if:
(B) The person committed one (1) or more of the following offenses within five (5) years of the offense of domestic battering in the second degree:
(iii) Domestic battering in the third degree, § 5-26-305;

Judge Dan Stidham set bail at $100,000 cash-only. Orders were also placed for no contact with the victim, no possession of weapons, and an ankle monitor if released.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
