Suspect Arrested for Attempted First-Degree Murder; Bond Set at $500K

JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro man is accused of criminal attempt to commit first-degree murder and appeared in court on Wednesday.

Brandon Larrell Williams, 29, of Jonesboro, faces the Class A felony criminal attempt charge, in addition to a possession of a firearm by certain persons charge, a Class B felony, and a misdemeanor marijuana charge.

On Wednesday, Williams appeared in court represented by attorney Bill Stanley. The state recommended a $500,000 bond while Stanley asked for a $250,000 bond. The judge agreed with the prosecutor and set bail at $500,000 cash or surety, noting Williams isn’t from Craighead County and had violent arrests in the past, even if they were resolved in his favor.

The probable cause affidavit states that on April 21, 2025, the Jonesboro Police Department responded to a reported shooting in the vicinity of Melrose and Word. Police found a male victim on the ground with three gunshot wounds to his lower body. Fire and EMS provided medical assistance.

Police reviewed the SkyCop video in the Cedar Heights/Melrose area, which showed a suspect wearing a light-colored jumpsuit loitering outside, facing south on Melrose, and pacing. As the victim came into view, the suspect moved along the fence line to intercept him, then went behind it. There, the suspect opened fire, striking the victim at least twice. The victim fell to the ground while Williams continued shooting multiple rounds, the affidavit alleges.

Following the shooting, the suspect was seen jumping the fence and entering the back door of a townhouse on Cedar Heights.

Police identified the suspect in the video as Brandon Williams. A search warrant was executed at the address he was seen entering, and police found his identification inside.

Police also learned of a prior altercation on April 13 between Williams and the suspect at a downtown nightclub. Notably, police said Williams was seen wearing the same clothing during that incident.

Williams’ next court date is set for June 27.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
