PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Paragould man is accused of assaulting family members and threatening to kill his wife and jail staff during a series of incidents on May 7, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Police were first dispatched to the area of 7th and Court streets in response to reports of an intoxicated man. Officers made contact with Kipp McKay, 37, who was allowed to leave with family, the affidavit states.

Shortly afterward, officers were called to a home on East Lake Street, where family members reported that McKay had struck them and told his wife he was going to “blow her head off.” Officers observed visible injuries to the victim’s head and neck area, consistent with being struck, according to the affidavit.

McKay was later found near a business on Highway 412 East and was arrested. Police described him as clearly intoxicated. While being processed at the detention center, he allegedly kicked an officer and made similar violent threats toward jail staff.

McKay is facing charges including two counts of terroristic threatening and one count of second-degree battery, all Class D felonies; third-degree battery, a Class A misdemeanor; and public intoxication, a Class C misdemeanor.

Information on bond was not immediately available.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
