PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Paragould woman was arrested after allegedly attacking her 67-year-old aunt and resisting arrest, according to police.
On March 28, officers from the Paragould Police Department responded to South 3rd Street regarding an unwanted person, according to the probable cause affidavit.
Officers arrived and met with the alleged victim, who is 67 years old. The victim told officers the defendant, her niece, attacked them for no reason. The defendant was alleged to have punched them in the chest and pushed them into the wall, hurting their back and causing minor injuries.
Officers decided to arrest the defendant. During the arrest, the affidavit alleges she began to resist and refused to submit. Officers eventually were able to effectuate the arrest without further incident.
Allison Sweaney, 28, of Paragould, was arrested for Second-Degree Domestic Battering, a Class C Felony, and Refusal to Submit, a Class B Misdemeanor.
Bail was set at $15,000 cash-only by Judge Dan Stidham. A no-contact order was placed, and an ankle monitor was required.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
