BLYTHEVILLE, Ark. — Authorities in Blytheville rescued 38 cats and arrested a man following a search warrant at a home on South Franklin Street, where an elderly woman was reportedly living in deplorable conditions.
Blytheville police executed the warrant on March 24 after an investigation revealed that a 92-year-old woman was residing in the home under severe neglect, a press release posted to social media on Monday said. Her son, Paul Taylor, 61, who lived with her and served as her caretaker, was taken into custody.
With assistance from multiple animal welfare organizations, officers recovered 38 cats from the residence, including one that was deceased. Agencies involved in the rescue effort included Blytheville Animal Control, Gosnell Animal Control, Cattyshack Cat Rescue, and several others.

Taylor was charged with felony endangering the welfare of an incompetent person, cruelty to animals, and violating a Blytheville city ordinance. He is scheduled to appear in Blytheville District Court on March 25.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
