Paragould Man Accused of Domestic Battery on New Year’s Day

PARAGOULD, Ark. — A suspect faces a third-degree battery charge after an alleged incident on New Year’s Day in Paragould.

At about 12:16 a.m. on January 1, 2025, officers with the Paragould Police Department were dispatched to Meadow Lane for a domestic disturbance, according to the probable cause affidavit. Officers arrived and met with a male who stated his wife had been drinking. He stated he was sitting in his truck when she came out to the truck, tore his visor off, and then started headbutting him in the face.

Despite his version of events, the officer could not see any injuries on the man while speaking with him besides a small cut on his hand. The officer then talked to the woman to learn her side.

When the officer stepped inside to speak with the alleged victim, he noticed her nose was bleeding and there was a cut on the bridge of her nose. She also had a cut on her arm. She told police she went to get the male out of his truck and they argued. She tore the sun visor off of the truck and threw it. That’s when she said the suspect proceeded to headbutt her twice in the face. He then began punching himself in the face. The man then got out of his truck and when going inside, ripped the screen door off of the hinges.

The same officer went back to speak with the male again. The officer wrote that he observed blood on his beanie in a place that would match if he had headbutted the woman. The officer determined the man to be the aggressor in the conflict and placed him under arrest.

Tony Grubbs, 42, of Paragould, was arrested for third-degree domestic battery, a misdemeanor. Bail was $5,000 cash with a no-contact order between Grubbs and the alleged victim.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
