JONESBORO, Ark. — A male suspect faces felony charges after an alleged shooting incident last week in Jonesboro.
The probable cause affidavit said that the Jonesboro Police Department was dispatched on October 24 to NEA Baptist Hospital about a subject who had sustained a gunshot wound. Officers identified a 16-year-old female who had a gunshot wound to her left hip.
Another juvenile witness was at the hospital. Authorities were told the two juveniles had driven to a residence in the 3800 block of Remington Drive, where they met a male subject named Camron. They then purchased marijuana from Camron using motion picture money and drove off, the affidavit said. Camron allegedly fired a gun toward them. A bullet struck the trunk of the vehicle. It appeared to police to have traveled through the vehicle and struck the front passenger seat.
The juvenile was struck in the left leg, the affidavit said, with her injury consistent with the path the bullet traveled through the vehicle.
Police used the phone number associated with Camron during the drug transaction along with pictures from social media provided by the juvenile witness to identify him. A bench warrant was signed for his arrest.
On Oct. 25, the defendant was seen leaving his residence on Remington Drive. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle he was in. Upon being placed into custody, officers located a handgun on him. The handgun was reported stolen out of Blytheville. The defendant was arrested.
Camron Jevon Davis, 19, of Jonesboro, faces charges including first-degree battery and terroristic act, both Class B felonies punishable by 5 to 20 years in prison; and theft by receiving of a firearm, a Class D felony. On Monday, Oct. 28, Judge Tommy Fowler set bail at $225,000 cash or surety. The judge ordered no contact with two alleged victims and an ankle monitor for the defendant.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
