Shots Fired Monday on Race Street; No Injuries Reported

JONESBORO, Ark. – A shooting incident without reported injuries was investigated Monday in Jonesboro, according to an incident report from the Jonesboro Police Department.

Officers responded to a shots fired call around 3:46 PM on July 22, 2024 to the 3500-block of Race Street. Police arrived and searched for damage to any residences but they weren’t able to locate any.

However, officers did locate a spent 9mm shell casing that had been recently fired. It was located around the entrance of the apartments at the address, approximately ten feet from the road. The silver spent casing was logged into evidence at JPD.

The report indicated that an argument was involved in the circumstances that escalated to a shooting. Fortunately, the 33-year old male victim was not injured.

While on the scene, the victim pointed to a vehicle traveling south on Westacre Drive, turning east on Race Street. The victim identified it as the suspect vehicle. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle but it fled the scene, the report said.

The suspect vehicle was described as a gold four-door sedan, possibly a Nissan Altima or Honda Accord.

The suspect or suspects in the case could face a charge of aggravated assault if apprehended. If you know anything that could help police, you may submit tips online here.
