LEPANTO, Ark. — Authorities responded to a 911 call reporting the discovery of two bodies early Friday morning inside a residence on Marlene Drive in Lepanto.
The call, received by the Poinsett County Dispatch at approximately 9:11 AM, prompted the response from the Poinsett County Sheriff’s Office, who arrived to assist the Lepanto Police Department in investigating the scene.
According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, the residence and its surrounding area have been designated as a crime scene. Law enforcement personnel have completed initial processing of the scene, and the bodies will be transported to the Arkansas Medical Examiner for further examination.
In a statement, authorities reassured the community that there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
“The community is not in danger,” Sheriff Kevin Molder said in a statement. “We will release more information as the investigation unfolds.”
The two bodies that were found inside the residence on Marlene Drive in Lepanto, AR are identified as:
Thirty nine year old Ashley Rawls of Lepanto, and forty four year old Justin Wiggins of Lepanto.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
