PARAGOULD, Ark. – A woman faces drug charges after authorities found her sleeping in her vehicle at a pawn shop on Monday in Paragould.
At about 10 AM on March 25, officers with the Paragould Police Department were dispatched to Express Pawn, 1401 W. Hunt Street, in reference to a female that appeared to have been sleeping in a vehicle since around 8 AM.
Officers arrived and made contact with the defendant, Penny L. Lucas, 60, of Paragould. The probable cause affidavit says she was lethargic and making unintelligible statements. She was also found to be a parolee with an active search waiver on file.
Police searched Lucas and her vehicle. They located multiple debit/credit cards, social security cards, a checkbook, and numerous identity documents reported stolen on March 4.
Officers went with Lucas’s parole officer to her residence. They located 0.1 grams of meth, a tray, two spoons, a glass pipe, and a capped needle all containing drug residue, the affidavit states.
Lucas was arrested for felony theft by receiving, felony drug possession and paraphernalia possession.
Lucas has several prior convictions for theft and drug charges, according to police.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
