MARIANNA, Ark. – The Marianna Police Department has reached out to the Arkansas State Police’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID) for support in probing a distressing shooting incident involving a 2-year-old child.
The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, 2024. It happened near an apartment complex in the 200 block of Sealand Street, according to a press release from ASP. The child, who was playing nearby, became a victim of gunfire during an altercation between two individuals outside the complex.
The child was promptly transported to a hospital in Memphis, and is currently listed in critical condition.
Following an initial investigation, CID Agents were able to identify two suspects believed to be involved in the incident. One suspect, a juvenile, has already been booked into the Lee County Jail as of this morning. However, law enforcement authorities are actively seeking the apprehension of a 22-year-old suspect from Marianna, who remains at large.
Authorities urge anyone with pertinent information regarding the incident or the whereabouts of the 22-year-old suspect to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation. Individuals can reach out to CID Company A at (501) 618-8420 or contact their local law enforcement agency.
