Paragould Man Accused of Armed Robberies with Knife

PARAGOULD, Ark. – A man is facing serious felony charges after authorities say he tried to rob a convenience store with a knife this week in Paragould.

Officers with the Paragould Police Department were dispatched on February 27 in reference to a male with a knife attempting to rob a local convenience store, the probable cause affidavit states. The male suspect had fled by the time officers arrived.

However, they received another report not long after from a nearby business. The report said the male attempted to get them to give him money under similar circumstances.

Officers searched the area and made contact with Joshua Gage at his residence. The report says Gage walked out of his residence and advised police he was the one they were looking for.

Gage was read his Miranda rights and interviewed. Lt. Robert Sexton reported the suspect admitted to entering both businesses requesting them to give him money while armed with a weapon or pretending to be.

On Wednesday, a judge found probable cause to hold Gage on two charges of armed robbery, a class Y felony, in connection with the case. Bond was set at $50,000 cash or surety. The defendant is under orders not to have any contact with the victims in the case and to not possess any weapons.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
