Undercover Officer Discovers Alleged Police Impersonator on Highway 67

WHITE COUNTY, Ark. – A White County Drug Task Force investigator encountered a concerning situation while driving his undercover vehicle along Highway 67, a press release from the White County Sheriff’s Office said on Monday.

As he drove, a gray car approached from behind, activating flashing red and blue lights. The investigator pulled over as required, only to witness the gray car quickly pass him, speeding down the highway at over 100 mph, authorities said.

Suspicion arose when the investigator discovered that the license plate of the gray car was registered to a rental company. Acting promptly, the investigator contacted a marked unit, leading to a traffic stop on the gray car.

Upon investigation, the driver, identified as Aubrey Young, initially claimed to be a military investigator, the department said in a release. However, authorities discovered Young to be a convicted felon in possession of a loaded pistol, a police scanner, and drug paraphernalia within the vehicle.

Young appeared before Judge Pate on Monday, February 19, 2024, facing a series of charges, including Possession of a firearm by certain persons, a Class B felony, Use of another person’s property to facilitate a crime, a Class B felony, Unlawful use of a communication device, a Class C felony, and Criminal Impersonation, a Class D felony.

His bond was subsequently set at $30,000.

US 67 leads from White County directly to Florissant, MO. Going the speed limit, that would be about 4 hours and 47 minutes, according to Google Maps. The release says the suspect was traveling in excess of 100 MPH.
