JONESBORO, Ark. – An out-of-state woman found herself in legal trouble after being trespassed from a Jonesboro motel and allegedly spitting on a police officer this week, according to a report.
Octavia Starr Sanders, 42, of Buffalo, NY, faces charges that include felony aggravated assault against a first responder following an incident that occurred around 11:41 PM on Dec. 12. Police responded to a report of stolen property at the Residence Inn, located at 2611 Sumo Loop in Jonesboro.
Details regarding the stolen property and subsequent investigation remain undisclosed. However, Sanders received a ban from the premises and was warned about trespassing if she chose to remain.
As tensions escalated, Sanders was apprehended and placed in handcuffs. During this altercation, she allegedly spat on Officer Joseph Lane. The report highlighted the presence of saliva on a laptop and police equipment.
Sanders was subsequently arrested on charges of felony aggravated assault against a first responder. Misdemeanor charges for second-degree criminal mischief and criminal trespass were also filed.
Aggravated assault against a first responder is categorized as a Class C felony, carrying a mandatory fine of $10,000 and a compulsory minimum sentence of 90 days imprisonment, with a potential maximum sentence of ten years.
