PARAGOULD, Ark. – A woman faces drug charges after an officer reportedly watched her complete a hand-to-hand drug transaction in Paragould.
Officer Owen Mundy of the Paragould Police Department made an observation on December 1, 2023, that led to the arrest of Carmin Cardenas on charges related to drug possession, according to the probable cause affidavit. Officer Mundy reportedly witnessed a hand-to-hand drug transaction involving a male and female, subsequently identified as Carmin Cardenas.
Upon initiating contact with Cardenas and discussing the observed transaction, Officer Mundy received information from dispatch indicating an outstanding misdemeanor warrant against Cardenas within the City of Paragould. During this interaction, Officer Mundy inquired about any illegal possessions, to which Cardenas admitted to having a used pipe in her purse.
Further inspection revealed a black box within Cardenas’ purse containing 2.1 grams of methamphetamine, 2.0 grams of synthetic marijuana classified as a scheduled 6 narcotic, and two empty zip lock bags suitable for packaging narcotics.
During the booking process at the Greene County Jail, Detention Officer Destiny Lewis discovered two additional separate baggies of methamphetamine concealed within Cardenas’ sports bra. The total quantity of narcotics found in Cardenas’ possession at the time of her arrest amounted to 5.6 grams.
Carmin Cardenas faces charges related to the possession of methamphetamine and synthetic marijuana, as well as potential charges associated with the alleged drug transaction witnessed by Officer Mundy.
The case is currently under investigation by local authorities.
