LAKE CITY, Ark. — A break-in at a local church was reported to the Craighead County Sheriff’s Office over the holiday weekend.
Authorities responded to the incident at approximately 3:20 p.m. on Sept. 2, at the 1200-block of Craighead County Road 995 in Lake City.
The church pastor, who was alerted by a church member, informed authorities that the back door frame had sustained significant damage. It appeared the door had been forcibly opened while bolted. Despite the visible damage, the deadbolt and its bracket remained intact. To engage the deadbolt, the door has to be lifted several inches, according to the report.
No other items inside the church seemed to be missing or damaged, aside from the back door.
While the pastor requested the incident be documented, he declined to pursue further investigation.
