Convicted Bank Robber Arrested on Federal Warrant in Jonesboro

JONESBORO, Ark. – A convicted bank robber was arrested on a federal warrant this week in Jonesboro.

Omar Guyton, a 48-year-old man from Jonesboro, was arrested on a federal warrant this week. The arrest took place between 8:15 and 8:49 AM on August 1, at the 3500-block of Preakness Drive. Although the specific charges linked to the warrant have not been disclosed to the press yet, Guyton’s criminal history is notable for several serious offenses.

Guyton was previously sentenced to ten years in prison for robbing a Regions Bank branch in Searcy back in 2008, according to a report from the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

After being granted supervised release, Guyton found himself back behind bars in March 2021. He was sentenced to serve 33 months in federal prison after prosecutors brought up a drunk-driving arrest and drug dealing charge from 2020. According to court records, Guyton’s most recent sentencing also included a six-month period of supervised release. Records from the Federal Bureau of Prisons show he was released on April 28, 2023.
