JONESBORO, AR – NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine at Arkansas State University will hold a free COVID-19 vaccine clinic in Pocahontas on Friday, April 9. NYITCOM is offering the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine at Friday’s clinic, which means those who attend will not be required to return for a second dose.
A limited amount of walk-in appointments are available. Friday’s event will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. at WestRidge Church of Christ, located at 3954 US 64 in Pocahontas. All Arkansans over the age of 18 are eligible, and those interested in scheduling an appointment can call 870-680-8880.
Friday’s event will also serve to deliver the second vaccine dose to those who attended NYITCOM’s March 12 event held in Pocahontas.
The clinic will be conducted through NYITCOM’s Delta Care-A-Van program, and vaccines are free thanks to a grant NYITCOM received from the Arkansas Minority Health Commission.
The Delta Care-A-Van program operates as part of NYITCOM’s Delta Population Health Institute. In 2018, NYITCOM received a United States Department of Agriculture Delta Healthcare Service Grant to fund a mobile medical clinic aimed at delivering healthcare to underserved and rural populations in Arkansas and the Delta region.
