City will stay course on COVID fight, press release says

As more vaccine and vaccination events continue to take place in Northeast Arkansas, Jonesboro Mayor Harold Copenhaver asks city residents and patrons to respect the wishes and requirements of businesses, as well as the health concerns of others.

Copenhaver said in response to Gov. Asa Hutchinson’s decision to lift the statewide mask mandate that businesses can make their own decisions on whether to require masks, but City government will not change current practices.

“To care for the health of City employees and be responsible to our community, we will continue to ask those doing business in City facilities to practice social distancing and wear masks when coming to City offices,” Copenhaver said.

“We hope continuing these practices, added to the growing number of vaccinated residents, will help result in a swifter, full return to normalcy.”

Another COVID-19 vaccination clinic will be held Tuesday, April 6, at the Craighead County Health Unit at 611 E. Washington Ave. Vaccinations for everyone 16 and older will begin at 9:30 a.m. and no reservations are needed.
